Mangalore, Oct 16: In yet another tragedy at Panambur beach near here, a ten-year-old boy met watery grave on Sunday October 15 evening while four other boys who too were washed away by the mighty waves were rescued by the locals.

The deceased has been identified as Tachu (10), a native of Harihara in Davangere district.  He had come from Harihara to the city and was living by begging in and around the city.

On Sunday evening Tachu and four of his fellow beggar boys had gone to Panambur beach for a stroll.  But just like many others in the past, they could not stop themselves from getting into the sea for swimming.  But within minutes of getting down into the sea, they were washed away by a mighty wave.

At this point they shouted for help.  Hearing them, some locals got into and tried to rescue them.  Though they managed to pull out four boys, Tachu went off their reach and drowned.  His body was found later in the evening in the same area.

This is the fifth such tragedy at the beach in the last one month.  Just like all the past cases, they had ventured into the sea, neglecting the warning by the police and locals.

Panambur police have registered a case in this regard.
