Katie Holmes to return as Jackie Kennedy on TV

Los Angeles, Oct 13 (IANS): Actress Katie Holmes will reprise her role as Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis, better known as Jackie Kennedy, in the follow-up mini-series of "The Kennedys."

Reelz is re-teaming with the producers of "The Kennedys", Muse Entertainment Enterprises, for the series which is based on the book of the same name by J. Randy Taraborrelli.

Jackie Kennedy was the wife of the 35th US president, John F. Kennedy.

"The Kennedys: After Camelot" will begin production next year for a 2016 premiere, reports hollywoodreporter.com.

Holmes will also direct one of the four episodes in addition to executive producing it. The remaining three episodes will be directed by Jon Cassar.

"Katie elegantly portrayed Jackie Kennedy in the first mini-series and now will continue the role as Jackie grows into the Jackie O that the world knows best," said Reelz CEO Stan E. Hubbard.

"Katie is brave, committed and perfect for this role. She is a strong, talented woman who understands how special and respected Jackie Kennedy, and then Jackie Onassis, as an international icon," Hubbard added.

The first series of "The Kennedys" went on air in 2011.
