New Delhi, Oct 17: As already planned and announced by KCA Executive during the Montiche Fest celebrations (9th Sept 2006) the Annual General Body was held  at the Kristu Raja School Grounds, Near Bangla Saib, New Delhi on the 15th Oct 2006.

The event was well attended by members. At 10.30 am the function started with a concelebrating Konkani Holy Mass. Fr. Henry D’souza, the Executive Director of the CBCI Commission for Social Communications was the main celebrant. Fr. Alwyn D’souza, Director, CBCI Commissions for Youth and Fr. Francis Rodrigues, Editor of Raknno also offered the Mass.

After the Holy Mass tea/snacks - refreshments were served for the members and children. In order to make it a memorable picnic for all the children Bannet Pinto, one of talented executive committee member was entrusted to organize games and activities. Painting competition was held for the children in different category and other skill building activities were conducted by him made the children happy and hearty.

Fr. Francis Rodrigues, Editor of Raknno and Kajulo, which are published from Mangalore (which are household names), was here as a special guest of honour as after learning from the report published on daijiworld.com  about the “Grand Montiche Fest” KCA had organized at New Delhi, had requested that he may be given an opportunity to address the mangalorean gathering during the AGM.

All our children who have scored the qualifying grades/percentages fixed by the KCA were given the education awards. Helen Pinto, read out the names of the awardees and also coordinated with the work of scrutinizing, sorting out and making the final lists. All the winners of the educational award as well as the winners of drawing completion (30 children) had the privilege of having a photo session with our own brother, the  Hon’ble Union Minister Ocsar Fernandes, who was present for the entire days function along with wife Blossom and children Oshinee and Oshan.

The new membership renewal and life members signing the register in order prepare for the AGM was going on simultaneously in the hall.  The AGM started with the welcome address by the President KCA, Martin Pinto, who said that after two terms in office, had the satisfaction of doing something for the organization, besides fund raising and organizing the fixed events/functions. He placed on record and thanked Fr. Henry D’souza, in a very special way for all the support and encouragement he always offered.  He also placed on record some of the major contributors of funds and sponsorship raisers like Alwyn Norohna, Vice President, Projects ITC, Maxwell Periera and Oscar Fernandes on this occasion.

The General Secretary, Wilfred D’souza placed before the august gathering, all the activities that the KCA had organized over the past year in the form of “Annual Report”. The highlight of his report was that of the collection of Rs. 1.40 lacs as fund for the KCA, bringing out the Membership Directory cum Brochure. He also stresses the need and urgency for young and new members to shoulder responsibility for the KCA as then only the organization can grow and progress. The report was adopted unanimously by the house.

 In the absence of the Treasurer Patrick Rodrigues, the President read out the Annual Accounts. He also answered all queries raised during the interaction subsequently the annual accounts were also adopted. 

Fr. Henry D’souza, the Executive Director of the CBCI Commission for Social Communications was the election /presiding officer. The following were elected for the new executive committee for the year 2006-2007 periods, they are:

The new committee took over the charge and had the privilege of a group photo with the KCA patron  Oscar Fernandes. Martin Pinto, who was unanimously elected, once again as the President of KCA, assured the House that he and his committee will do their best for the KCA in the days to come and urged the sincere support of all the members.
