Mangalore, Oct 18: The Mangalore City Corporation today resumed fogging operations after a gap of two years to counter the mosquito menace and the recurring cases of malaria, filaria and chikungunya. The fogging operations that started before the communal clashes resumed on Tuesday. It was carried out by the Health Department in various low-lying areas such as Kudroli, Alake, Kottara, Ashoknagar and few places in coastal line.

According to the health department officials, eight fogging machines have been pressed into service and three others are in pipeline. Five teams of health workers, fogging machine operators, health inspectors, social workers are going from one place to another and carrying out the fogging operations.

According to the Health Inspector of Mangalore City Corporation, Gopalakrishna Delampady, the corporation has identified five problematic places in the city that include coastal areas such as Ansari Road, Port Road, J.M. Road, Ugrani Compound, Crescent English School area, Azizuddin Road, Bunder Police Station Road, Kotekani, Mohammadali Road, Golikatta Bazaar, Kalikamba Road and many others.
