New Delhi, Oct 19: Former Union Minister Shatrughan Sinha's surprise praise for Congress leader Rahul Gandhi and his dig at BJP General Secretary Arun Jaitley has left the party squirming.
The actor-turned-politician has reportedly described Gandhi as "sharp and intelligent" and called Jaitley a karyakarta (worker) of the party.
"Why should he be saying so? He should not have said so," a senior BJP leader, who did not want to be named, remarked.
There was no official comment from the party.
Ahead of the Bihar elections, Sinha had triggered a row with his party for his remarks that the BJP should not field candidates with criminal record.
He, however, was given charge of the BJP's cultural cell after Rajnath Singh succeeded L K Advani as party president.
"Sinha's comments about a party colleague are disturbing," another party source said.
