Suspected Ebola case in France tests negative

Paris, Oct 17 (IANS): Initial tests of a woman suspected of contracting Ebola turned out negative, media reported Friday.

The nurse, who suffered from high fever, was admitted to Begin hospital Thursday.

Second sample analysis is underway, the results of which will be known later in the day, Xinhua reported.

According to media reports, the nurse was in constant contact with a volunteer with Medecins sans Frontieres (MSF) who caught the virus in Liberia.

The first French national infected with Ebola recovered after receiving experimental treatment at a Paris hospital.

France will start screening passengers arriving at Charles de Gaulle airport in Paris from Saturday.

The Ebola virus has killed nearly 5,000 people in West Africa since March.
