Mangaluru, Nov 26: Members of Popular Front of India (PFI) on Wednesday November 26 gheraoed Ullal police station alleging that the police had failed to arrest the 'suspects' in the 'abduction' of Insha even after being provided with sufficient clues and information.
19-year-old Insha had reportedly eloped with Bharatraj and married him. Her parents had filed a kidnapping case, following which some unrest broke out in Ullal, with people of both communities pressing for police action. However, the girl in a letter to her parents had insisted that she had married Bharatraj of her own will and no one had influenced her.
The protest was organized under the leadership of Ullal unit of PFI in front of the Ullal police station.
Accusing the Sangh Parivar of a 'consipiracy', PFI district president A Athaulla said, "If the police department is unable to face the challenges of Sangh Parivar, the PFI will counter them."
He also alleged that the police had deliberately refrained from taking action in the case despite having information about the 'suspects'.
"If the police department does not solve the kidnap incident, there will be protests throughout the district," he warned.
PFI Puttur president Shafi Bellare, PFI district secretary Mohammed Haneef, PFI Ullal zonal president Abbas Kinya, All India Imam Council district president Jaffer Sadiq Faizi were present.
