President's Medal awarded; CM calls for strict action against moral policing

Bengaluru, Nov 27 (DHNS): Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Wednesday called for strict action against those indulging in moral policing in the State.

He was speaking at a ceremony at the Raj Bhavan to award the President’s Medal to 47 officers. “We live in a diverse society which expects the police to be responsible. Certain groups have been trying to take law into their hands in the name of moral policing. The police should take stringent action against such elements,” he said. Siddaramaiah called upon the police to sharpen their skills to tackle new trends in crime.

“Self-satisfaction is the best award for policemen at the end of their service. We are witnessing heinous crimes such as sexual assault on children in schools. I understand that the police work under tremendous pressure. The officials who withstood the pressure in the line of duty have been chosen for the award,” Siddaramaiah said.

Governor Vajubhai Vala said police were always work-bound and not time-bound. “Police officials should not yield to pressure since they are the guardians of our villages and cities, like the Army on the borders. The police must ensure the safety of women, which ultimately reflects the law and order situation,” he said.

The governor presented the gallantry awards to Gopal B Hosur (retired IGP) for his bravery during the anti-Veerappan operations in 1993, DySP G R Patil for his encounter with dacoits when he was police inspector in Belagavi Rural in 2007, Inspector T R Puttaswamy Gowda and constable K Rajesh for their bravery against Naxals at Mairoli near Udupi in 2010; and T Rangappa who shot at fleeing dacoits when he was the inspector at KG Halli in Bengaluru in March 2011.

Seven officials received the Special Service Medals and 35 officials received the distinguished service medals.

all Bhakts....WAKE UP!!!! The crux of the issue here is the negative impact of Moral policing and not that of Siddu sleeping.

If you turn a blind eye towards these sanghi and SDPI/PFI "desi talibani monsters" today...then i am afraid that they may not allow you to sleep in your house peacefully.

Lets get rid of this immoral policing menace! Lets unite.

Dear Mangaloreans & Udupites - Moral Policing is a bane and has in a larger way affected our local economy.

Investors, Big Companies, Foreign and NRI Students and educated professionals refuse to come to Mangalore because of the regressive mind set of youth.

A few saffron, PFI and other 'self-styled' organizations claiming to be the protectors of culture have started social and gender segregation vis-a-vis Saudi.

If we have to truly develop then we need to KICK these jobless, brainwashed and degraded hooligans out.

The CM should have used other platform to take action against moral policing by gang of tugs with their respective religious background.People were living together in the society without division of thinking of their religion and cast and creed. These so called groups in the name of moral policing a latest addition to already increasing crime in the country.CM should take quick action or pass laws to restrict these groups unlawful acts in the society. It is love love love only love can bring all people together for peaceful living.

SIDDU'S political statement not augur well for his personality as leader of backward communities. What prevent him to ask his HM do or perish when MORAL POLICING takes place in twin districts unabated. In fact,Moral policing in DK is order of the day.Siddu Govt completely failed in curbing Moral policing.I think there is no political will in dealing or eradication of this social evil.frankly speaking we are very much disappointed on this issue as we had high expectation when Siddu Govt was installed.

Moral policing and trouble inciting groups from all communities is need of the hour for both the parties BJP & congress. Some issue like these, both of them want it to be prevailing in the society so that they can encash the emotions of the people for votes. Just like how some major world countries don't want to solve some unrests in different parts of the world even though its killing the mankind. Every thing is fair in politics, at the end of the day its only common public fighting and dying in the name of politics and religion.

Moral Policing or Cow stealing or drug trafficking, rapes, Murder or any other crime,
Police and law enforcement should be strict and quick to convict and penalize.
Extra ordinary delay is a main cause of encouragement to offenders, which ruined justice delivery system.
There shouldn't be any scope for political parties or their splinter organizations to meddle in the affairs of enforcement of the law.
