Moodbidri, Nov 26: On the second day of Alva's Nudisiri 2006, the All India Kannada Language and Culture Convention strong charges were leveled against the state government's step-motherly approach towards Kannada language and for not implementing schemes meant for development of the language.

 
 

During the first session of the day on Saturday, the participants of the convention discussed the state of Kannada language in the frontier region and outside the state especially in the border districts of Kasaragod and Belgaum.

 
 

Dr Subramanian Bhat and Thulthaj Vasanth Kumar presented paper on Kasaragod and Srinivasa Kulkarni presented his paper on ‘Belgaum.’ The participants also highlighted the agony and legal hassles faced by the people of these regions in government offices when they seek help.

 

The noon session comprised a discussion on the challenges faced by the performing arts.

 
 

Dr Hi Shi Ramachandra Gowda spoke about the state of folklore in the region and T S Nagabharana delivered a talk on ‘Difficulties in the field of theatre."

Television and film director P Sheshadri spoke on the problems faced by contemporary Kannada cinema". He said, “dubbing and remaking films are solely responsible for the plight of the present Kannada film industry." He also requested the people to enjoy and encourage good movies.
