Mangalore, Dec 4:  The 128th anniversary of St Joseph's Seminary was celebrated with grandeur at the St Joseph Seminary Hall, Jeppu on Monday.

Bishop Machado speaks; Bishop Aloysius felicitated

On this occasion Bishop of Mangalore Aloysius Paul D'souza was felicitated on completion of ruby jubilee of his episcopal ordination.

While felicitating the bishop, the rector of the seminary Fr Victor Machado informed about the initial priestly formation that he underwent in Jeppu seminary. The Bishop was the first rector of Seminary and now serves as the Bishop and guides the seminarians as the chairman of the Board of Administration of the Seminary.

The newly ordained Bishop Peter Machado of Belgum presided over the function. In his presidential address he said that Bishop Aloysius is a man of intellect and possesses a good heart.

Bishop Machado called upon the people to be involved in the life others and reach out to them at all times. He also said that a seminarian has to be accountable and remember always that they are from the people and have to work among people.

Fr Victor Machado read out the academic year report for the year 2005-06.

The function is followed by a wide variety of cultural programmes.
