Mangalore, Dec 5: On the occasion of the 40th  jubilee of  priestly ordination, Bishop Aloysius Paul D’Souza of Mangalore inaugurated the newly constructed blocks of Pastoral Centre which are named as Jyoti Nivas I and Jyoti Nivas II.

The inauguration was followed by the Eucharistic celebration in the new chapel. After the Mass a felicitation programme was held to to greet the Bishop and to thank the main persons who worked for the realization of this project. Around 150 priests attended this inaugural ceremony.

The Bishop praised the services of pastoral centre director Fr Vincent Monteiro, past director Fr Arthur Pereira, and the building committee members Fr Joseph Lobo and Fr George D’Souza.

Fr Vincent Monteiro thanked the building contractor Roy Castelino, engineer Oswald Viegas, plumbing contractor Sushil Noronha, electrical contractor Melwyn D’Souza and St Joseph's Workshop manager Fr J. B. Crasta, for the furniture supplied.

The entire project of the pastoral centre of Mangalore diocese which was begun in 1986 has now got its final shape with the completion of two more blocks. The newly constructed blocks contain a spacious conference hall, a beautiful chapel, two dining halls, a kitchen and well furnished 40 rooms.

Both the old and the new blocks can accommodate 200 persons, which is one of the largest accommodation facilities in town.
