Mangalore, Dec 6: After four turbulent days, violence-hit Mulki town gradually limped back to normalcy on Tuesday December 5 with schools, colleges, offices and other business concerns starting their activities.

With this, the police have now lifted the day curfew.  However, curfew continues between 7 pm and 7 am until the further notice is issued.  Meanwhile, despite respite in curfew people were seen unwilling to come out of their house on Tuesday morning.  Streets and roads were almost running empty till late in the morning.  It was only after the schools and colleges began that people came out of their houses.

Yet it may take a day or two for the situation to return to square one.  Though the surrounding areas have almost back to usual life, the Mulki town which was the centre of violence is yet to shake off from all turbulent times.

In the meantime, a peace meet was held at Hotel Adhidhan which was presided over by MLA Abhaychandra Jain.  DySP Pitambar Heraje, sub-divisional magistrate Krishnamurthy, leaders of all religions and locals too participated in the meet.  It was decided to form committees at the village and ward levels which would work towards maintaining peace in times of troubles.
