Mangalore, Dec 6: The Sports Day of the St Aloysius High School was inaugurated on Wednesday December 6 at the Paatala ground here.
Rector of St Aloysius Institutions Fr Francis Serrao presided over the function. Principal of the St Aloysius College Fr Eugene Lobo was the chief guest.
The Gonzaga Stadium was inaugurated on the occasion by Fr Eugene Lobo.
Speaking on the occasion Fr Eugene appreciated the construction of the new stadium. He added that students should develop sportsmanship qualities within them.
Founder member of the Aloysian Alumni association APNAA (New York Chapter) Ramachandra Rao headmaster of the St Aloysius High School Fr Gilbert Saldanha, vice-president of the PTA Sathish Pai were the others who graced the occasion.
A march-past by the students marked the beginning of the proceedings.
The participants are divided into four units known as the Gonzaga house, Nehru house, Tagore house and Xavier house.
Various events like long jump, high jump, running race and so on will be conducted.
