Mangalore, Dec 10: People must make best use of Right to Information Act, said Dakshina Kannada Sessions and Principal Judge H M Bharathesh.

He was speaking after inaugurating a seminar on Right to Information Act organized by SDM law College in association with Mangalore Bar Council in the college auditorium here on Saturday.

The main objective of the Right to Information Act is to ensure transparency in the existing government system. If it implemented properly it will also help to check the tendency of the government officials to keep the information on government matters away from the people, he said.

Once the law is passed and enacted then it is left to the public to decide whether they want to make use of it or not, he said.

Mangalore University NSS programme convener Prof Gopal, college NSS officer Susamma Thomas, S Fathima, SDM law College lecturer Taranath, Vidya Shankar, Sirsi social activist G G Hegde Kadekody and Citizen Forum for Mangalore Development Convener Vidya Dinker were present.
