Mangalore, Dec 12: The Janata Dal (S) district president Vasant Bangera has threatened to quit from his post if BJP-JD(S) were to come into power in zilla panchayat.
Addressing the district JD(S) meet on Monday December 11, he insisted that the party would not support BJP at any cost. The party members were unhappy with district in-charge minister Nagaraj Shetty and had decided not to join hands with BJP.
He alleged that Shetty's manner in handling various issues had resulted in causing unrest in the region. He further said that the party had promised the voters that they would not support BJP during zilla panchayat elections.
The ZP members who had signed a petition of no-confidence - Aziz Malar, K Sucharita Shetty and Rajashree S Hegde were absent.
JD (S) member and ZP vice president Dharanendra Kumar, office bearers M B Sadashiv, Bharat Shetty, Farooq Ullal, Dharmendra Shetty, D S Aslam and others were present.
