Mangaluru: Hephsiba Korlapati appointed MCC commissioner

Daijiworld Media Network - Mangaluru

Mangaluru, Dec 31: On the last day of the year, the state government finally announced the appointment of a commissioner for Mangalore City Corporation, a post that was lying vacant for the past many months.

27-year-old Hephsiba Rani Korlapati has been appointed the new commissioner of MCC.

Hephsiba is from Basavakalyan in Bidar district but hails from Vijaywada, Andhra Pradesh. She is an IAS officer of the 2011 batch.

She secured the 20th rank in IAS. She has served as assistant commissioner of Basavakalyana sub-division in Bidar district.

Hephsiba did her BA from Osmania University, Hyderabad and MA in Geography from Delhi School of Economics.

She will take charge of new post on Thursday January 1, 2015.

The non-appointment of MCC commissioner had become a contentious issue with the opposition stalling several MCC meetings and BJP members staging repeated protests in public. In mid-2014, Ajit Kumar Hegde Shanadi, the earlier MCC commissioner, was sent on training to Hyderabad and H Prasanna appointed in his place. However, reportedly due to political conflicts, Prasanna was transferred soon after taking charge and Ajit Hegde was re-appointed. But his appointment was not given official nod from the government. Meanwhile, Gokul Nayak functioned as the interim MCC commissioner.

In Bangalore , if we speak kannada, we get answer yennada Kannada? Now it will spread to Mangalore also, we become minority in our own states. In Bangalore kannadigas left out with the jobs of ricksha driving or street vendors or small cafeteria, All good jobs taken by other state people and we became, no papa and no mama kids, lawaris people, even provision store gone to Keralites, real estate business taken by Telugu people coming from Andra in Reddys raj, factories gone with Tamil and North Indians, all offices jobs for rest of states people.? What is happening to kannadigas, we are left out ??????? In future we will be live with the mercy of others.

Dear Raju, I partially agree with you but I guess we need to take more objective view of the situation. We cannot view the situation in a linguistic angle. What we need is a situation where more people of state get benefitted by the jobs created by companies. After all, companies enter with the pretext of creating employment and government gives lot of benefits to these companies to set up shops. Government has to work with the companies to facilitate hiring more people from the state not by force but by programs such as skill development, facilitating more campus interviews. Language problem will be automatically taken care in that situation.

State govt can also do its bit such as conducting interviews in other parts of the state for jobs in BBMP/BDA/VidhanSoudha. After all, state capital is the major source of jobs for any state.

We need to learn (not hate) from Chandra Babu. He is doing a great job in diverting industries to AP and also doing programs so that state people get the benefits of these jobs.

Dear Shaikh Sir, you made a good point. im not against an IAS officer from outside as these positions are posted nationally. But at a broader level, we the people of Karnataka, are the biggest loosers. We created so many jobs in IT & other sectors but who are the real beneficiaries? Has any of governments (irrespective of party lines) focussed on employment for the people of the state, imparting people with required skills for the jobs, engaging with the companies in this regard? Karnataka & Bangalore may have developed but we have missed the train.
Jobs are the biggest game changers and a good job to one member of a family can change the living conditions of whole family, his relatives. Unfortunately we are not able to realise this. Instead busy with communal clashes, illegal activities. So sad.

    Kamath Sir,
You are absolutely right, I will agree. We the Mangalorean's not looking our own children's, we are looking for neighbor's daughters. We are not focusing IAS or IPS, we are focusing on Moral policing and behind innocent Girls, Pubs,Beaches, Parks as well as Girls Hostels. We are not focus to our Mangalore's development,
No respecting specially some third class organisations for a life of human's, they are behind cattle's and animals. Even though they are not live without the cattle meet every evening with Alcohol.
Oh Ram, Rahim and Jesus please open our Mangalorean's eyes

    Hephsiba Rani Korlapati,

Welcome to Mangalore on behaf of all Mangaloreans...

Please try to eradicate all rats(2 legged) from Corporation first,,, there are lots of them...

Don't focus on poor street vendors and hotels/juice centers...focus on big whales with big stomach's ....

Try to accommodate all factions of CONgress(there are at least half dozen of these factions) so you will not have same fate of last COMMISSIONer...
