Reciprocal Arrangement with Star of Mysore

Mysore, Dec 17: Tourists to Madikeri will be treated to a musical fountain at Raja's Seat here the next time they visit the town.

Government has offered Rs 35 lac for the project and a Bangalore firm has already begun the technical work for the fountain. The Horticulture Department, which is taking care of Raja's Seat is constructing a fountain pond and a control room. The proposed fountain is bigger than the musical fountain at KRS Brindavan Gardens.

The musical fountain will have a package of seven different types of music about Karnataka, including folk music, Hindi pop songs and Kodava tunes.

Devotional songs on Cauvery and a song on late Field Marshal Cariappa's march are special attractions. On special days like January 26, August 15, patriotic songs will be played. The project is scheduled to be completed by March next year.

Raja Seat will also be adorned with attractive lighting at night at a cost of Rs 1.5 lac. The other projects that are being planned are an amphi-theatre at a cost of Rs 4 lac and new granite chairs and fencing costing Rs 3.5 lac.

"The projects will be ready by March or April 2007 during the next horticultural show," said the Department officials C K Medappa, S Anand and Suma.
