Moodbidri, Jan 11: A worker died after falling from a coconut tree at Barabettu in Kadandale near here. The deceased has been identified as Raju Poojary (38), a local resident.
Raju was engaged for plucking of coconuts in the plantation belonging to Barebettu Seetharam Shetty. When climbing the tree, he suddenly lost his grip and fell down. No one noticed him till a local toddy tapper, Rame Gowda, who was passing by that road around noon, saw Raju writhing in pain on the road.
After information about the accident was passed on to the family members of Raju, they came and arranged to take him to hospital. However, Poojary died while being taken to the hospital.
Raju Poojary has left behind wife and two children. A case about the incident was registered in the local police station.
