Udupi:Pillion rider dies in tanker-motor bike collision

Udupi, Jan 13: The pillion rider of a motor bike lost his life after a tanker collided with the two-wheeler at Saligrama on Sunday January 11. The motor bike was moving towards Kota from Brahmavar, while the tanker was moving towards Udupi from Kundapur.

Venkataramana Soorya from Brahmavar was going to Uplady near Kota with his friend, Suman Aidga (28), when a tanker hit his vehicle in front of Lord Guru Narasimha temple in Saligrama. Suman, who sustained severe injuries in the accident, was taken to a private hospital nearby, but he could not be saved.

Suman was very poor, and eked out a living by functioning as celebrant for ritual rituals. He is survived by parents and a sister. Venkataramana suffered minor injuries.

Kota station house officer, K R Naik, visited the spot and registered a case.
