Bengaluru, Jan 14: In a direct political attack against the BJP, Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Wednesday accused the principal opposition party in the State Legislature of trying to destabilise the duly elected Congress government in the State by misusing the Governor’s office.

Speaking to reporters, Siddaramaiah expressed his displeasure at the opposition BJP's moves to corner him over the alleged denotification of lands in Arkavathy Layout.

Replying to a specific question about BJP leaders' plans to approach Governor Vajubhai Vala to seek sanction for his (Chief Minister) prosecution, Siddaramaiah challenged the BJP to resort to any tactics against his government and asserted that he was fully prepared to fight.

"BJP appears to be bent upon misusing the office of the Governor," he said and declared that he was ready to face this political challenge from the BJP.

The Chief Minister said that the BJP is trying to blow the denotification issue out of proportion with political motives to target him.

"The denotifications have been done in accordance with the provisions of law and no land has been denotified illegally. I have nothing to fear," he said.

Siddaramaiah also took exception to the BJP’s protests over the State Government’s decision on nominating persons to the Karnataka Public Service Commission (KPSC) merely with the intention to score political brownie points.

“We know how to tackle them (BJP) and will fight tooth and nail,’’ he said making it clear that the Government was not afraid to face any situation as it had not resorted to any corrupt deals or land scams as was done by the previous BJP regime with the then chief minister and several ministers jailed over corruption scandals and other scams.
