Coverage of video web casting on the canaraworld.com started in early October 2006 with the first video footage of Konkan Kala Saanz, a community cultural event organized by Canadian Mangaloreans.
www.canaratv.com is being launched with the blessings of the Bishop of Mangalore, his Excellency Aloysius D’Souza. The new site will be launched with the video web casting of this solemn Christmas midnight mass celebrated by the Bishop of Mangalore.
www.canaravideo.com will be launched simultaneously. This portal is for the community to share their videos for the purpose of entertainment.
Speaking to Daijiworld, chief of the Max Mendes Group said that viewers need to visit the website and register themselves to use the facilities for sharing personal videos of religious events of any faith, special occasions and ceremonies, accomplishments at school, colleges, universities or at the workplace. The service is free of cost to all.
Briefing on the plans for the New Year 2007, Max said that web casting of major events such as the Karkala St Lawrence feast and the feast of Infant Jesus in Mangalore will be done. These, he said, are tremendously popular events and webcast of these events would give people residing in foreign countries an opportunity to reminisce.
“Our objective is the globalization of our culture, heritage & languages. We want the world to know that we are strong supporters of our culture, traditions and heritage and that we have pride in maintaining our identity as a unique ethnic group of people,” Max said.
The purpose, he elaborated was to give a platform to all Mangaloreans to upload their videos of religious events, special occasions and ceremonies, accomplishments at school, colleges, and universities or at their workplace.
Canaraworld.com came into the existence on October 30 2005 in Canada; its primary objective being to sustain and encourage the Konkani language and lifestyle of the Canara region. It is a matter of immense pride to me that the website is barely a year old but has built a solid reputation for excellent quality and innovation. The website also has a huge reader base.
