Mangalore, Dec 28: Adith Jagadish and Ankitha Rajaram have brought laurels to the nation with their performances at 2nd Asian School Chess Championship organized at Singapore by Singapore Chess Federation.

Adith won the first place in the Boys’ Under 12 Category in the prestigious ‘Celebrating 10’ Chess Challenge 2006 organized by INTCHESS and Singapore Chess Federation on December 24.  He also secured the fifth position in the Under 13 Open category in the 2nd Asian School Chess Championship organized by Singapore Chess Federation at ASEAN Chess Academy, Singapore.

Ankitha won two medals in the Under 7 Girls category in the 2nd Asian School Chess Championship. Teaming with Ivana Furtado, Goa (Individual Gold winner) she won Team Gold medal for India in her Category. She also won Individual Bronze medal defeating Vietnam, China and Singapore players.

Both these young champs were honoured by Deric Chess School on Thursday at Hotel Taj Manjarun.

Adith has a FIDE (International) Rating of 2162. Lourdes Central School. Aged 12, he is the son of Jagadish Boloor and Bharathi Jagadish. Ankitha Rajaram is the daughter of Rajaram and Bharathi Rajaram. Seven-year-old Ankitha is a student of Sharada Vidyalaya.
