Mangalore, Jan 7: It was a thrilling experience for a group of tourists from Britain, who celebrated Christmas on board their cruise vessel – M V Island Sky which had berthed at New Mangalore Port here recently.
The tourists had visited Kadri Manjunatha Temple, St Aloysius chapel and Dharmastala temple. The vessel sailed on December 25 and another group on board M V Hebridian Spirit visited the Port on Monday. The tourists celebrated New Year by visiting places like Sultan Battery, cashew factory, Gokarnatha temple, St Aloysius Chapel among others and sailed on Tuesday.
This is the fifth cruise vessel calling at the port in the fiscal year and more vessels are expected to call in the next coming months. Meanwhile a state-of-the-art modern cruise terminal is being built at a cost of Rs 2 crore and this will soon make Mangalore a hot spot for cruise tourism.
