Muscat, Feb 5: The Annual Sports Meet of Oman Billawas was organized on January 30 at the Muscat Sports Club ground, Wadi Kabir, Sultanate of Oman.
It was yet another joyous occasion for all the Billawa community to re-unite and participate in various sports and games organized by Oman Billawas.
An overwhelming count of over 300 of Billawas attended the event. It was heartening to see a good participation from distant places like Barka, Nizwa and Sohar. The Sports Meet was inaugurated with the release of a Dove by president Ashok Suvarna, symbolizing peace and harmony amongst the Billawas in Oman.
After an energising breakfast, the sport events commenced for the age group 6 to 10 years for boys and girls in running race, lemon and spoon race, picking of chocolates and basketball. This was followed by running race, hitting the stump and sack race for the age group 11 to 16 years. Throwball, kho-kho and tug of war were conducted exclusively for the ladies. For the men, volleyball and tug of war were the main attraction of the day. Lunch and evening tea were provided at the venue.
The lush green lawns of the Muscat Sports Club ground at Wadi Kabir was the perfect setting for a beautiful day of sports, games, fun and enjoyment for all participating members as well as children. All committee members and volunteers had gone out of the way to ensure that the entire Billawa community in Oman had an occasion to participate and live the day to the fullest extent with beautiful memories to carry home.
Sports coordinator, Gangadhar Poojary along with his sports team ensured that all the sports and games planned for various age groups of children as well as adults were conducted smoothly and on schedule.
While proposing the vote of thanks, Gangadhar Poojary thanked all the sponsors for their help in making this event a grand success.
