Udupi: Health-related tension drives teacher to commit suicide

Udupi, Feb 7: A physical education teacher residing in a rented residence in Kaup in the district committed suicide on Friday February 6 morning. Reportedly, he was suffering from heart-related problems, and was undergoing mental stress on this account.

S R Kadam (55), physical education teacher of Vidyavardhaka High School in Pangala ended his life by hanging himself at his rented house. on Friday, he had gone for a walk in the morning as was his routine, and returned. He went to his room thereafter, closed the room door, and hanged himself from the ceiling fan.

No member of Kadam's family including his wife, son, and relatives of his wife, who were at home at the time, had an inkling of the tragedy that had hit the family till much later.

Kadam's son visited the room of his father at around 8.30 am, after which the incident came to light. Kaup police visited the spot thereof and registered a case.

Kadam is survived by wife, two sons, and a daughter.
