Mumbai, Feb 9: One of the most successful dramas in the history of Mangalore "Mhataro Chorbela" is marching ahead to create the new records. The 64th show was staged on February 8 at Zaverben Popatlal Auditorium in Ghatkoper East, Mumbai.
The writer of the drama, 71 year old Francis Fernandes Cascia was in his usual young charms to entertain the crowd through his fabulous acting. His dream is to have its 75th show on his 75th birthday. The drama is directed by Joy Paladka.
"As in his every new show, Francis delivers relevant catchy dialogues of the day to day life and of the political scenario. This prompts the spectators to watch every show of Francis. Nothing is repeated here." said Johnson who loves to watch this drama.
The story of the drama is the husband who is working in the gulf countries returns home for good. As his wife who is very active in prayer meetings has very little time for him, he loves to pass time with the young girls. This old man's love stories manage to give maximum entertainment to spectators.
The lead role of Leo is played by Francis Fernandes Cascia. Roicy Sequeira Paladka acts as his young lover Violet. The other actors are Flora DSouza Kalmadi (Filu), Shanthi Barboza Boliye (Cynthia), Betty Naz Bandra (Veronica), Julie Vaz Malad (Flora), Peter Pais Basroor (Albert Mestri), Gregory Sequeira Niddodi (Gregory), Peter Cutinho Mundkur (Victor) and Joy Paladka (Claudy).
Jean Moses Gomes Principal of Marceline Junior College of Arts, Science and Commerce was the chief guest of the programme. Starting her speech by singing a Konkani song 'Konknni Amchi Bhas, Konknno Amcho Ganv' Jean said "Konkani is a sweet language. As we Mangaloreans love our Mangalorean cuisine, we also need to love and promote our language by speaking and spreading it."
Speaking about 'Mhataro Chorbela' drama Jean said that she laughed a lot and her tension just vanished. She also said that her husband not being a Konkani, also loved and enjoyed the drama very much.
Banker John DSilva, Charted Accountant Wilfred Rego and Fr. Philip Gonsalves Capuchin were the guest during the programme.
Vincent Castelino, Lawrence DSouza, Moses Michael Gomes, Stanislaus S Saldanha and Robert Quadros were present at the occasion. Clement Lobo Chakala beautifully anchored the programme.
