Kolar, Feb 14: A youth, who created a drama of having been killed, with the specific aim of achieving dual results of claiming heavy insurance amount, and to send a person whom he disliked to jail for having 'murdered' him. His plan was busted by the police, and the person who hatched the conspiracy, and who would have been rich now, stands arrested.

Arun Kumar (22) from Tookal village in Bangarpet taluk of the district thought he had prepared a fool proof plan. He was helped in the task by his friend, Nagaraj, from Venkatapalli in Andhra Pradesh.

Arun had prepared a plan since six months. About five months back, he bought an insurance policy covering his life for Rs 15 lac. Some days back, Arun came to know that the body of a person named Byatappa (52), a railway staff from a village about five km inside Andhra Pradesh had died, and his body had been buried outside his village, Doddagandlahalli, on February 8. Arun and Nagaraj went to the spot on the night of February 9, exhumed the body, packed it in gunny bag, and carried it in a motor bike. Petrol was poured on the body in the outskirts of Tookal village, before setting it on fire . Motor bike, footwear, and some other things were left at the spot to make the people believe that the body belonged to Arun. Care was taken to spread the rumour that Arun had been murdered on account of rivalry by a person named Ravi.

Arun was unemployed and had started working in the shop of a friend named Ravi at Kyasamballi village some distance away. Ravi had given full charge of shop to Arun, as he had full confidence on his friend, but of late, some differences had arisen between the two. The friends separated after a fight broke out, after which Arun wanted to teach Ravi a lesson by spreading the rumour that the latter was responsible for his own death.

The parents bought the burnt mortal remains and conducted final rites as per custom, duly believing that they had lost their son. The police also visited the spot and registered a case of suspected murder. The police had arrested several people including Ravi and questioned them about the murder.

The police, who got some information during investigation, went to Venkatapalli, arrested Nagaraj, and interrogated him. Nagaraj revealed that Arun was alive. The police made Nagaraj to call Arun, who had been hiding in Bengaluru, to visit him, and arrested Arun once he came there.

If he would have used his brain for some good ideas, such bad days wouldn't have come to him. Let him enjoy his days in prison.
