Doha: "Save our Environment" awareness campaign organized by MCC

Doha, Feb 15: Indian Cultural Centre (ICC) in association with Ministry of Environment of Qatar has organized an environment awareness drive through different affiliated organizations to spread out this awareness message to all communities. Qatar will be celebrating the Qatar National Environment Day on February 26,2015 through different activities.

In support of this awareness drive, Mangalore Cricket Club (MCC), Qatar a renowned organization also joined hands in this campaign and conducted a “Save Our Environment” awareness campaign on February 13,2015 at the Seraphic Hall, Our Lady of Rosary church compound. The talk was open to all MCC members and church community people and was attended by a large crowd.





















The program was opened by MCC President Norbert Corda by welcoming the gathering and then introduced the speaker TM Denzil Fernandes, who by profession is a Safety Instructor at Qatargas, also a toastmaster, member of Konkan Toastmasters Club and has to his credit winning the title Champion speaker in recently conducted ICC One Communication Champion 2014. He presented an impressive talk along with presentation on “Global Warming” and “3 R’s - Reduce, Reuse, Recycle” philosophy bringing out a clear message of the effects of global warming , benefits of planting trees and the methods to conserve the environment. He reinforced in his message that everyone is responsible to make a difference and must save this world. MCC Cultural secretary Riana Pinto, also a toastmaster, briefed about some simple tips & techniques on different ways of saving water, paper, electricity, wastage of food and clean surroundings to save environment. She concluded with taking a pledge from all gathered to be responsible to save environment and to teach their children the same values in order to save the environment for the future generation.

The program concluded with plantation of saplings at the Church compound. All young children and old joined in the planting of saplings. Vice President Prakash Noronha, past MCC President Sunil D’Silva, Vivian D’Souza, and other committee members were present on the occasion.

MCC feels proud and contended in spreading out this awareness message among its community & non-community members and thanks each one of them for their attendance.
