Kundapur, Jan 18: In a ghastly accident that took place at Moovathumudi Bridge area near Hemmadi here, a seven-year-old school girl was killed on Wednesday January 17.

The deceased has been identified as Supreeta (7), daughter of Basava Kharvi of Gangolli and a student of HMM English Medium School.  The accident occurred when a private bus going to Gangolli from the city was hit by a recklessly driven lorry on Tuesday.  Supreeta sustained serious injuries and died on the spot while four others including two school boys have sustained injuries.

Among the injured, the situation of Bhaskar, a teacher at St Mary's School here is very critical while one Roshan too has sustained injuries.  Two school boys have escaped with minor injuries.  The injured are being admitted to Chinmayi Hospital here.

The speeding lorry brushed one portion of the bus as a result of which Supreeta who was sitting by the window-side died on the spot.  Some of the passengers said that Supreeta was peeping outside at the time of accident which resulted in her death.

The Kundapur police have registered a case in this regard.
