Mangalore, Jan 18: As part of Karavali Utsav, a beach festival will be organised at Panumbur beach here from Friday January 19 to Sunday January 21.

Speaking at a press meet here on Wednesday January 17, MCC commissioner Krishnappa Poojary said that the three-day fest will include events like food festival, cultural programmes and sports such as beach throw ball boat race, sand sculpture and beach volleyball.

The fest will be inaugurated by district in-charge minister B Nagaraj Shetty while Suratkal MLA Krishna Palemar will preside.

The sports events will be held on Saturday January 20 and January 21 along with flying of kites by Team Mangalore and kite-flyers from United Kingdom, Holland and Australia.

On the same day, there will be Tulu cultural programmes by Siri channel at 6.30 pm, Konkani programmes at 7.30 pm followed by a dance performance by Tibetans and Rasamanjari by Planet Music orchestra.

The programmes on January 21 will begin early with a Satsanga by Art of Living team at 5.30 am and a skating competition at 8 am.

The highlight of the event will be a performance by noted singers Udit Narayan and music composer Gurukiran on January 21 evening. Parasailing will be an added attraction.

B K Mrithyunjaya of Brahmakumari Ishwariya Vishwavidyalaya, Mount Abu, mayor Vijaya Arun and NMPT chairman Tamil Vanan will be present.
