Mangalore, Jan 18: "The delay in shifting the pipeline along the proposed four lane work on National Highway has nothing to do with Mangalore City Corporation but it is owing to lack of cooperation by elected representatives and MLA," complained mayor Vijaya Arun on Wednesday January 17.

She was speaking to the reporters in the sub-office of MCC at Suratkal near here on Wednesday.  Referring to the reports in one of the leading Kannada dailies that the four lane work is delayed owing to the apathy of MCC, she said that MCC has been doing its work properly.  "However, we are not getting much-needed support from elected representatives and MLAs.  Meanwhile she admitted to MCC officials have failed in pursuing the work.

The 10 inch pipeline along the Kulai-NITK route has already been shifted and the works of installing 4 inch pipeline along the highway for almost 7 kilometres has been completed.  But a bit of work is still pending near Old Market, mosque and bus stand at Suratkal since the land has not been acquired by the concerned officials, she said.
