Mangalore, Jan 19: A high level delegation of Animal Welfare Board of government of India visited abattoir at Kudroli here on Friday January 19 morning to study the situation and submit the report to the government.

The delegation led by S K Mittal, member, Animal Welfare Board of ministry of Environment and Forest of government of India visited the abattoir in the wee hours of Friday.  MCC health officer Padmanabh and MCC commissioner Krishnappa Poojary were also present along with the delegation.

Sources said that S K Mittal took MCC officials to task for irregularities in the slaughter house which has been the centre of several controversies in the last one year.  Health officer Padmanabh was at the receiving end as Mittal complained about unclean surrounding of the abattoir.  He also complained about the way the abattoir is functioning.

The early morning visit by the officials meant that the concerned persons did not have even time to keep the abattoir clean and in order at least on Friday.  This still worsened the scene.  The delegation has been appointed to study the status of all the abattoirs in the 4 southern states and submit the report to the union government.
