Lodz (Poland), Feb 19 (IANS): Saint Kitts and Nevis' veteran sprinter Kim Collins continued to roll back the years, setting a world-leading time and equaling the Central American and Caribbean (CAC) Games record in winning the 60 metres at the Pedro’s Cup here.

At two months shy of age 39, the former 100m world champion produced a sensational run, clocking a personal best 6.47 seconds, to snatch the event in style at the Atlas Arena Tuesday night, CMC reported Wednesday.

American Mike Rodgers was second in a season-best 6.52 seconds with Great Britain’s Richard Kilty also clocking a season-best of 6.54 seconds.

Daniel Bailey of Antigua and Barbuda was fifth in 6.59.

Collins ran well within himself in the heats, clocking 6.66 seconds but exploded in the final to repel his challengers.

The CAC mark of 6.47 was set by Jamaican Lerone Clarke three years ago.

Collins is a former World 100 metres champion, having won the title in Paris, 12 years ago.

He represented his country at the Summer Olympics on four occasions, from 1996 to 2008. He has also competed at eight consecutive editions of the World Championships, beginning in 1997 and up to 2011.
