Mangalore, Jan 21: Four chess associations will be started in four districts of the state, informed United Karnataka Chess Association president Achuthanand Reddy.

He was speaking after inaugurating the State-level Rapid Chess tournament organized by South Kanara district Chess Association under the auspices of United Karnataka Chess Association at Sharada Vidyalaya on Saturday.

Six associations are working for the past 9 months in the State and the additional will promote the game, said Reddy adding that a National Chess Tournament will be held in October.

The performers in the International-level Girish A Kaushik of Mysore, Sathwik of Bangalore and Anikitha R of Mangalore were honoured on the occasion.
