Mangalore, Jan 22: "Verbattle Senior-2007", a first-ever state-level debate competition for college students between the age group of 16-24 will be held from Friday February 2 to Sunday February 11 at Gurunanak Bhavan, Miller’s Road, Bangalore.

This was announced in a press conference held at Information and Publicity Department premises here by Vinayak Ramakrishna, CEO of  T V House which is conducting event  in consultation with well-known personality Mr. Deepak Thimaya here on Monday January 22 morning.

He further said that this is the first-ever event of its kind in India and was initiated two years ago for the juniors, that is, basically for the highschool students.  However, this year, the event has been extended to students from PUC to Masters. The earlier editions conducted for juniors had received a extraordinary response.  Though the preliminary rounds in the juniors' event were conducted in various places of the state and the finals in Bangalore, all the rounds including the finals of Verbattle Senior-2007 will be held in Bangalore.

The participants will be provided with transportation in collaboration with KSRTC once they get the authorization from their colleges and educational institutions.  Accommodation too will be provided in collaboration with the Yuva Kendra in Bangalore.

Those who would like to participate can do it online by logging in to www.verbattle.com by Thursday February 1.  Topics for the debate could be chosen from almost 100 subjects mentioned in the website.  He also said that a circular in this regard has already been sent to almost 3,000 junior, senior colleges and educational institutes across the state and over 1,000 teams have confirmed their participation.

The aims of Verbattle:

Verbattle encourages vibrant minds to think freely, process thoughts aptly, convert them into simple language and present arguments logically; with clarity in speech, a highly acceptable accent, audible voice and corresponding gestures along with authentic facts and resource gathered out of serious research.
