Mangalore, Jan 24: Lourdes Central School will hold a state level Children Chess Fest 2007 in association with Derik’s Chess School on Friday January 26 and Saturday January 27 at the school auditorium.

This was announced by Fr Joseph Peter Tauro at a press conference here on Wednesday January 24.

The fest will be inaugurated at 10 am by Karnataka Bank deputy general manager M V C S Karanth. The guest of honour will be chartered accountant K Subramanya Kamath while Lourdes Central School manager Fr Joseph Peter Tauro will preside.

The valedictory will be held on the following day and the programme will be presided over by school principal Grace Noronha. Corporation Bank general manager Rama Murthy will be the guest of honour.

The two-day fest will consist of rapid chess tournament for boys and girls. More than 150 players from across the state are expected to participate.

The fest has been supported by Corporation Bank and Karnataka Bank.

Among those present were, Grace Noronha, PTA president Pratham Bhandari and Prasanna Rao of Derik’s Chess School and tournament convener Veerendra Alva.
