Mangalore, Jun 24: The state Minority Commission has urged the minorities to maintain cool during the Hindu Samajotsav on Sunday January 28.

Speaking at the peace meet held in the deputy commissioner's office here on Wednesday January 24, state minority commission president Mohammad Masood said that a meeting of all heads of Madarasas, mosques coming under MCC was convened to issue guidelines and discuss about the measures to be followed by the minority community during Hindu Samajotsav.

The meeting arrived at a conclusion that no provocative speeches should either be made or such posters and banners put up in the name of Samajotsav.  "We are not against Samajotsav.  We support this unique way of bringing all sections of the majority religion under one roof for a novel cause.  However, we request members of either community not to hurt the feelings of each other and thus give a chance to any trouble," said Masood.

Deputy commissioner M Maheshwar Rao who was present at the meeting said that the district administration will take all necessary steps to ensure that peace and tranquility prevails during the historic Hindu Samajotsav.

He further said that that since a huge crowd of over 2 lakh people will participate in the Samajotsav, security has been beefed up and smooth flow of traffic too has been ensured.

MLA N Yogish Bhat, Moodabidri-Mulki MLA Abhayachandra Jain, Hindu Samajotsav organizing committee member Prof M B Puranik, SP B Dayananda and others were also present at the meet.
