Bangalore, Jan 25: The much-hyped Suvarna Karnataka celebrations received a blow with the removal of its tableau from the Republic Day Parade at Delhi tomorrow.
Defence Minister's Tableau Committee left out Karnataka, the two-time winner of the best tableau award, this year. According to rumours, the State's concept did not match the "nationalist agenda" of the parade to be held in front of India Gate.
According to I.M. Vittal Murthy, Secretary, Department of Information, the Tableau Committee which screens and approves the tableaux rejected Karnataka's tableau on Channapatna toys this year, though the Department had carried out the changes suggested by the Committee.
