Karkala, Jan 28: The 10th zonal convention of the Catholic Sabha Moodbidri Zone was held on Sunday January 28 at the Lourdes Church Ground Kanajar. Around 600 Catholic Sabha members of the 27 units of the 3 Varados of Karkala, Moodbidri and Beltangady participated in the convention.

  

The event was presided over by zonal president Harmon Castelino. John D’Silva Mumbai, Anthony Mendonca, personal secretary to the Agriculture Minister of Karnataka, Anthony D’Souza, Karkala, APMC president, Andrew Noronha and Catholic Sabha president Mangalore were the chief guest. 

 

The programme was inaugurated by Fr Alwyn D’Cunha, parish priest of Kanajar Parish.

On the occasion, Dr Herbert Nazareth was honoured for their service in the field of education. The prize winners of the elocution competiion conducted by Catholic Sabha were also felicitated.

 

George Ligory, secretary, Catholic Sabha Central Committee, convenor R E Rebello and Robert Menezes were present on the stage. Karkala Varado was announced as the best Varado and the best unit award was bagged by Gantalkatte unit .It was also decided to hold the 11th convention in Alangar, Moodbidri in 2008.
