Peeved at leaking of illicit relationship, man poisons wife, children

Bengaluru, Mar 20: A person from near Tyamagondlu in the rural district here, who felt frustrated at the fact that his illicit affair had come to the knowledge of wife and relatives, poisoned his wife and two children. As a consequence, one of the sons died, while wife and another son are battling for life in a private hospital in the city.

While son, Akshay (6), died due to the ill-affects of poison consumption, the other son, Prashanth (8) and wife, Pushpalatha (30), are in critical condition. Tabla artiste, Ravichandra (33), who has been accused of committing this crime, stands arrested.

Ravichandra and Pushpalatha couple were living in Obalapura in Tyamagondlu revenue division. In the recent past, relationship between the couple turned sour after Pusnhpalatha came to know that her husband has relationship with a girl.

It is said that after a tense standoff, Ravichandra offered to drop his wife and children off at her parental home. At Nidavanda, he offered them soft drinks, which they consumed, not knowing that it was laced with poison.

The police are continuing with the investigation.
