Mumbai, Mar 25: Actor Aamir Khan has spoken out quite angrily about the way that material is being banned by the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC), in relation to the ban imposed on Kamal Haasan's movie Viswaroopam. The Censor board which was recently the central topic of reams of print, is once again the doldrums for the list of swear words that it has banned, as made known by its chief, Pankaj Nihalani.

Aamir said, "I am totally against banning any kind of material. When the I&B minister spoke to us, he also clarified that actually the ministry has no such list of cuss words. It's a certification board and not the censor board. It was nice to hear that," The movie that he was speaking of was Kamal Haasan's 2013 spy thriller film Viswaroopam that was certified by the Censor Board but was not allowed to be screened by local District Collectors (DC). The DC's had issued the orders to not show the film because they felt that it would indubitably disturb the law and order. This stemmed from the fact that many Muslim factions felt that they had been portrayed in a poor light.

Aamir Khan expressed his shame at content being banned just because a certain section of the population didn't like it. He felt that the industry as a whole should have come together to show their solidarity to fellow actor Kamal Haasan in this, his time of need. He apologised for being do caught up in his own work that he was not able to stand by his contemporary. Aamir also said, Once the film has received the certification, it is the responsibility of the state to make sure that people can watch the film without any fear," He personally felt that banning a movie by anyone is an act against the law, if that movie has already been given certification by the CBFC.
