Sullia, Feb 20: A curious incident has taken place in the Aivernad Deraje Higher Primary School in the Sullia taluk of the district, where the villagers put a lock on the door of the school, in protest against the headmaster's cooking habits.
Headmaster Shantaram has been accused of cooking fish curry for his noon meal in the school premises and also of erratic attendace.
Villagers also said that the headmaster was facing allegations of siphoning off the rice stock meant for hotmeal for students and not attending the school regularly. They began gathering at the school early in the morning to protest.
The block education officer was not immediately available since he had gone to Mangalore on official work. Area physical education officer Lakshmish Rai visited the school and pacified the villagers, by assuring them of an inquiry into the matter.
Sullia police sub inspector Shivaprakash also rushed to the spot to prevent any untoward development.
