Mangalore, Feb 21: "Cross Roads-07", a two-day annual national-level fest of Mangalore University was inaugurated in the Varsity premises here on Wednesday February 21.
The fest was inaugurated by M L Nayak, regional manager of UAExchange. In his inaugural address he advised the students to give priority to job rather than a fat pay. "Even if you are paid highly but do not get any satisfaction from that job, then, you will never be able to do justice to the job. So do a job that gives satisfaction to you rather than a huge salary," he said.
Prof K M Kaveriappa, the vice-chancellor of Mangalore University who presided over the inaugural function said that Indian education system is becoming poor qualitatively. "To put it in right words, our education system is declining from its high pedestal. In the year 2001 there were only 8,000 foreign students studying in India as against 13,000 who were studying in 1991. This shows that no more out education system is able to meet the standards and requirements of international students," he observed.
Management association secretary Yathin Kumar, Dr T Mallikarjunappa, chairman of department of Business Administration and staff advisor Putanna K were present at the programme.
About 20 colleges from various places across the state are participating in the two day fest.
