Mangalore, Feb 22: Two gram panchayat members who had been arrested by Bangalore CCB police in connection with double murder case of Bangalore are said to have been released after investigation.
Ranju alias Niranjan Shetty, member of Belapu gram panchayat and nephew of Paniyoor Sadhu Shetty and Nityanand Shetty, owner of Mayur Bar and Restaurant and the member of Kutyar gram panchayat have been released by CCB police on Wednesday February 21 after investigation.
They had been taken to police custody on Sunday February 18 evening by Bangalore CCB police team led by Shivkumar and Vinay Gaonkar. Their names came to prominence after two staff of Shabnam Builders were gunned down by unidentified accomplices of underworld don Ravi Poojary.
Following this, the Bangalore police led by CCB chief had initiated investigation along with massive hunt for killers. Accordingly all those who had conversed with Ravi Poojary on his mobile were tracked and held. Niranjan Shetty, Nityanand Shetty and Mukka Yogish alias Kali Yogish who had links with Ravi Poojary were arrested from Kaup, Paniyoor on Sunday evening.
The sources reported that the police have been able to get important information about the double murder and other dealings of Ravi Poojary. The police are yet to release Yogish since it is believed that he is either directly or indirectly involved in the present case.
