Mantra to play Narad Muni in 'Narayan Narayan...'

Mumbai, April 3 (IANS): Actor-comedian Mantra will be seen playing the mythological character of Narad Muni in upcoming show “Narayan Narayan Chulbule Narad Ki Natkhat Leelayen”. He says mythology is a tough gene.

The show promises to offer light-hearted comedy based on Narad Muni and his exploits across the universe.

“I believe mythology is one of the toughest genes and to be part of it, one needs to be extremely sure of how apt they are for the character. When Narad was described to me, the entire plot and character excited me," Mantra said in a statement.

"To get into the skin of the character, I read many verses of Narad Puran and watched umpteen movies of veteran actor Jeevan, who is known as the most loved Narad Muni since 1960s,” he added.

The show's storyline will be centered on the life of Narad from his point of view, along with highlighting his bitter-sweet relationship between Lord Vishnu, played by actor Ujjwal Rana.

Mantra, 32, has had a multifaceted career from radio, theatre, acting and anchoring.

After starting out as a radio jockey, he got a taste of theatre, and then bagged a chance to be part of TV. He hosted the dance reality show “Zara Nach Ke Dikha” and gained popularity as a stand-up comedian on three consecutive seasons of Sony TV’s “Comedy Circus”.

He also participated in the sixth season of celebrity dance reality show “Jhalak Dikkhla Jaa” as a wildcard entry.

“Narayan Narayan Chulbulley Naarad Ki Natkhat Leelayen” will be aired on BIG MAGIC, starting April 6.
