Hassan, Mar 6: A workshop on voveo-vers and mhan monis ek mulakhat programme was held in Loyolla Hall at St Joseph's School here on Sunday March 4.

The twin programmes were jointly organized by Karnataka Konkani Sahitya Academy and Hassan Konkani Sanchalan.

The programme was conducted under the directorship of Karnataka Konkani Sahitya Academy president Eric Ozario.  Hassan Konkani Sanchalan vice-president Valerian D'Souza welcomed the gathering. During the first session in the morning Irene Rebello and Hilda D'Souza trained the gathering on voveos while the second session on vers was conducted by Eric Ozario, Joyce Ozario and Ravi Stephen.

The valedictory of the workshop was graced by Fr Melwyn Mendonca, principal of St Joseph's PU College here. Karnataka Konkani Academy registrar H S Shivarudrappa welcomed the gathering while Hassan Konkani Sanchalan president Praveen Veigas proposed the vote of thanks.  Irene Rebello compered the programme.

Mhan monis ek mulakhat programme to honour Konkani stalwarts was held on the same evening.  B Renuka Prabhu, senior Konkani social and cultural activist and Pius D'Silva, prolific Konkani writer and theatre artiste who is well-known in Konkani circles as 'Herolpius' were honoured as 'Konkni Mhan Monis' on the occassion.  Academy president Eric Ozario presided over the programme.

All those who participated in the voveo-vers workshop were given certificates and voveo-vers books by the organizers.

Local Konkani community leaders and activists noted dermatologist Dr Vasudev Nayak, Varadaraj Prabhu. Peter Monteiro (Magge Raja), Anil Furtado, Madhav Shenoy were also present at the programme.
