Mangalore, Mar 12: Karavali Yuvaka and Yuvathi Mandalas, Bykampady, along with the district administration, Dakshina Kannada Zilla Panchayat, Mangalore City Corporation and the Department of Youth Affairs and Sports, is organising 'Karavali Vaibhava,' the district-level youth festival at Government High School, Meenakaliya, Bykampady, near here from March 17.

Nearly 900 youths from five taluks are expected to participate in the two-day event.

Sharath, president of Karavali Yuvaka Mandala, told presspersons here that a reception committee headed by Suratkal MLA Krishna J. Palemar had been set up for the successful conduct of the event. Teams, which had won at the taluk-level youth meets, would represent the taluks at the district meet, he said.

Palemar will inaugurate the meet. Vijaya Arun, Mangalore Mayor, will preside over the inaugural function. B Nagaraj Shetty, Minister for Fisheries, Endowment and district in charge, will preside over the valedictory function. Sushma Janardhan, president of Dakshina Kannada Zilla Panchayat, will distribute prizes.
