New presbytery 'Holy Cross Sadana' Inaugurated in Pamboor


Udupi, May 1: Holy Cross church Shanthipura Pamboor which was established in the year 1968 will be completing 50 years in march 2018 so several projects have been planned to be executed before the Golden Jubilee. Hence construction of a new presbytery, one of the Jubilee projects started during June 2014, was inaugurated on April 30.

The programme started at 9.30 a m with blessing of the new presbytery which is named as “Holy Cross Sadana”. The presbytery was inaugurated by the first parish priest of Pamboor Parish Rev.Fr. Denis Dsouza and Seraphine Rego mother of Fr Paul Rego (present parish priest). And was blessed by the bishop of udupi diosece Dr Gerald Isaac Lobo. A thanksgiving Eucharistic mass was celebrated by Dr Gerald Isaac Lobo along with the parish priests from the neighbouring
churches and guest priests and parishioners.









































A small programme was organized after the mass. Dr Gerald Isaac Lobo presided over the function, FrStany Tauro (vicar Forcane, Shirva Deanery), Vinay Kumar Sorake(minister for Urban Development),Hasanabba Sheikh (president,Shirva Grama Panchayat), Rajendra Shetty (president, Belle Gram Panchayat), Ida Gibba Dsouza (Zilla Panchayat Member) were the chief guests. Fr Paul Rego(present parish priest),Prakash Noronha (vice president of parish council. Asuntha Dsouza (secretary of Parish Council) were present on the dais. Fr.Paul Rego welcomed the gathering. Mabel Menezes gave a brief introduction about the former parish priests and they were felicitated for their service by the Bishop. FrDenis Dsouza (first parish priest of the parish),Fr Jerome Monteiro, FrHerald Menezes, Fr Joseph Machado were felicitated.

Fr Denis Dsouza spoke on behalf of the felicitated priests and expressed his heartfelt gratitude to the parishioners for their support and their love and concern that was shown to him and to other former parish priests.

Vinay Kumar Sorake promiesd his full support to the parish golden jubilee projects and wished success for the next upcoming projects. Ida Gibba Dsouza also conveyed her wishes for the occasion.

The people who worked for building the presbytery were felicitated. The Chief architect Danny Pinto from Western Architects was felicitated followed by the workers.Mr.Fedrick Saldanha was also felicitated for supervising the work.

Dr Gerald Isaac Lobo conveyed his wishes to the parishioners and told about the importance of the presbytery and felicitated Fr.Paul Rego for the work he has done in the parish under his leadership .

Asuntha Dsouza conveyed vote of thanks. Fr Stany Tauro led the prayers before lunch.The whole programme was compered by Mr.Vincent Alva. The programme ended with the lunch.
