Mangalore, Mar 24: The Highway Patrol police led by Panambur DySP Pitambar Heraje have managed to arrest two persons who said to be the prime accused in the murder case of Ulaibettu gram panchayat member Puttumonu.

The arrested have been identified as Jamal (24), a resident of Harekala New Padpu and Mohammad Asif (24) of Ammemmar near Farangipet.  The police managed to arrest them at New Padpu.  Jamal is also the prime accused in the double murder case of K C Road near Talapady here.  Both the accused have been handed over to Bantwal rural police station for further investigation.

However, the arrested are only hired killers and they were paid by a person working in Saudi Arabia.  Hasan Bava who is working in Saudi Arabia had paid Rs 1 lac to Jamal to kill Puttumonu.  Ulaibettu gram panchayat member Puttumonu had played a major role in filing dowry case on Hasan Bava's brother Irbahim and his family. 

Jamal with the help of Ulaibettu gram panchayat member Yakoob had taken Puttumonu to a deserted place at Kudtabettu near Mudipu.  Yakoob had taken Puttumonu to Kudtabettu on his mobike.  But his family members had filed a case with the police after he did not return home. 

Finally his body was found in almost decomposed manner after one week.  A sabre which was found near the body suggested that he was murdered.  Ullal inspector Jayant Shetty  had taken-up the investigation had managed to solve the case.  But the accused were still at large.  But based on a sure tip-off that they were hiding in New Padpu police arrested them.
