Bantwal: Dharmasthala-sponsored Krishi Mela Off to a Grand Start

Bantwal, Apr 4: The 27th Krishi Mela organized by Sri Kshetra Dharmasthala Rural Development Project (SKDRDP) was off to a grand start at Bantwal here on Wednesday April 4.
Speaking after inaugurating the event, Balagangadharnath Swamiji of Adichunchanagiri Math said, ‘Rural development programmes of Dharmasthala have changed the notion that agriculture is no more a loss-making industry. Schemes which could not be implemented by the government are being implemented by SKDRDP.’
Earlier, a procession was held as part of the programme which was flagged off from Polali Dwara.
More than 10,000 people participated in the event. An exhibition consisting of 210 stalls was also held in which products made by self-help groups were displayed. Stalls were also put up by departments of agriculture, horticulture and milk federation.
Seminars on various topics related to agricultural techniques and innovations were also part of the event. Altogether 1500 volunteers were engaged in organising the Krishi Mela.
Dharmasthala Dharmadhikari Dr D Veerendra Heggade, DK district in-charge minister B Nagaraj Shetty, former state transport minister Ramanath Rai, Apex Bank president Rajendra Kumar, Vittla MLA Padmanabha Kottari and Bantwal town panchayat president Dinesh Bhandary and others were present.
